The disappearing fragrance of beauty
Depleted, almost gone, expelled from duty
Holding on tight, not wanting to yet leave
It’s time now to depart and still, she finds
it hard to perceive
That the scent once so strong is finally saying
goodbye
Her train pulls away as the sparkle leaves
quietly from her eye
A single perfect tear flows gently down one
cheek
A single act of defiant beauty before the comfort she sets out to seek
